Fleisher 115th Annual Faculty Exhibition
Fleisher Art Memorial’s 115th Annual Faculty Exhibition is on view July 12 thru August 10. I feel lucky and honored to show my work among so many wonderful artists. Here are 4 of my favorites.

Christine Blair teaches silkscreen. She taught me everything I know about silkscreen, as I took her class every term for almost 10 years. Christine has her M.F.A., printmaking, Tyler School of Art, Temple University; B.F.A., printmaking and drawing, Carnegie Mellon University; studied at Parsons Paris School of Design, the American University, and École des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Christine has been on the faculty at Fleisher since 1993. Christine was an artist-in-residence at Fleisher Art Memorial, a Fleisher Challenge recipient, Workspace Program, Dieu Donné Papermill, Inc., New York, NY, One of four national artists selected to produce new projects in handmade paper in collaboration with master papermaker, Paul Wong.

Rebecca Gilbert teaches color woodcut and monotype at Fleisher. She is an experienced printmaker who works primarily in the mediums of woodcut and intaglio. She earned her MFA in Printmaking/Book Arts from The University of the Arts, where she was awarded the Elizabeth C. Robert Prize for Graduate Study in MFA Book Arts/Printmaking. Ms. Gilbert is currently a fellow in the Career Development Program at The Center for Emerging Visual Artists, and Senior Lecturer at The University of the Arts where she teaches Printmaking. She is is an alumnus of Nexus Foundation for Today’s Art in Philadelphia, where she presented three solo exhibitions and curated The Extra-Dimensional Printmaking Invitational. Several pieces from her latest body of work are currently being featured in Clip, Cut; Paper Thin at the Noyes Museum’s satellite gallery in Hammonton, NJ.

Fran Gallun teaches Mixed Media & Collage, and Discovering Your Creativity. She is a Philadelphia area artist who has shown extensively in the tri-state area for over twenty years. Major shows include The Port of History Museum, The Painted Bride Art Center, The District of Columbia Jewish Community Center, The Gershman “Y” in Philadelphia, University of the Arts “Window on Broad”, The Walt Whitman Cultural Arts Center, and Gettysburg College. She was a fellow at Mishkenot Sha’ananim in Jerusalem in 1998, and was the first recipient of the Dene M. Louchheim Faculty Fellowship from The Fleisher Art Memorial in 1990. Currently an instructor at The Fleisher Art Memorial, she has also been an adjunct instructor of art at Rowan University, and was artist-in-residence for Haddonfield Memorial High School in 2004. She also was curator of “Dreamscapes for the New Millennium” at the Walt Whitman Cultural Arts Center, and “Contemporary Women Artists of Philadelphia” at the Wallingford Art Center.

Marie Elcin is a versatile art teacher at Fleisher, teaching both adults and kids. She teaches silkscreen, color theory, and Stitch & Surface. Marie is a fiber artist and arts educator who works primarily in embroidery. Her M.Ed degree is from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and her B.F.A from Moore College of Art & Design. Elcin’s work explores a concern for urban and natural environments. She has exhibited widely in the Philadelphia region, including Highwire Gallery, Da Vinci Art Alliance, Physick House Museum, and the Delaware Art Museum. As a teacher, she hopes to inspire personal creativity and help students develop the design and artistic skills to fulfill their vision.
